Good Evening Delmarva!

Well Salisburians, the time has finally come. Help has been requested and it has arrived. Holierthanthou and myself have teamed up to bring you something even better than news- information. Accurate information. Because lets face it, these days the "news" that circulates around this Eastern Shore of ours just can't be trusted. So, acting on good faith that you are all educated individuals who can make up your own grown-ass minds about what to believe, we are going to do our very best to give you as many of the facts as possible. This is a place where we will help you share your own stories about experiences with police (COLLEGE KIDS), run-ins with our local politicians (CITIZENS, BUSINESS OWNERS, SLAVES OF THE CITY) and online documents that you think the people of Salisbury should see. Are we biased? Kinda, yea. For a long time we have watched as a small fraction of people has dominated the public dialogue, so this will not be an arena that caters to that faction...fraction. We want to provide a forum for the thousands of voices in Salisbury that have been systematically drowned out by the powers that be for years- as two of those voices ourselves, we know what it feels like to be ignored.

As we post this info, we will share our thoughts on what is posted, but we aren't gonna tell you what to think or force our opinions on you- we'll save that kind of deep throat action for the original Sbynews. Now you may be asking yourselves, wouldn't a fair and balanced blog (with only a slight bias) allow Mayor Ireton and the "folks" in the Campbell Neighborhood Association to tell their side of their story too? Sure, we'll give them a chance. But the Times (or whats left of it) and the cigar smoking, mustache twitching paparazzi of the Eastern Shore already form a pretty impressive cheer-leading squad for the Ireton-Campbell team, so we aren't too worried about their coverage. No, here at The Other Salisbury News, we want to hear from the rest of you. We really look forward to talking with you Delmarva, it's been a while since we've heard your voice.

I am glad to see you taking the time to not only get involved, but to get other students motivated. You can make or break this election.

It's the Camden Neighborhood Association, not Campbell. I know this is just a basic blog, but you should check your facts before you criticize others.

What do you even mean by "mustache twitching paparazzi of Delmarva"? ......

Yes we are aware. It was a joke. You know, something aimed at people with a sense of humor? We research everything that we post very thoroughly and if there is something that you think we've missed, by all means enlighten us.

As for your latter question, we'll let you draw your own conclusions. You seem like an informed individual.

You rock my socks Holierthanthou. I love that you guys are getting college students more involved in making Salisbury a better community. This is a very proactive way to raise awareness:)

A real Salisbury News site should really prosper and grow after Salisbury Maryland has been forced for several years to read one sided articles always slamming individuals because they didn't have the same agenda as the blogger/owner. Do you site a favor and leave all comments as they come in for post and you will flourish, of this I'm postive. Critquing or deleting comments is guaranteed to inhibit the growth of your blog. It forces normal intellegent people to weigh before they attempt to post, whether or not the blogger will post it, thus many times they just decide it's not worth the bother. I've given this alot of thought, even though I've never considered doing what you are doing. Anyone can learn and change their mind, when presented with new information and insight. I want to read what every other person thinks about any subject, then my position will be more well rounded and solid. That means I want to hear what someone with the opposite position as mine thinks. It will force me to re-think and possible change. That can never take place if comments are deleted or commenters blocked. I like to think of this as "real free speech", something your country is gradually taking away from you, just as that other SYB-not-so-news worthy site. That site is simply an opinion by someone unqualified to judge anything or anyone, they're views are always slanted, virtually little truth throughout. That's NOT who you ever want to emulate, in any way, it's a guarenteed losers game, before you ever start. You'll do well, I think, to just keep everything simple, at least for the time being, try to keep it all or as much as possible real local news. You'll get a following pretty quick I think. Good luck. Fred G

Fred,

Thanks for the input. Rest assured that we live by those standards and if someone has an opinion (no matter how much we disagree with them) we will always allow them to express it on our blog. Have a great evening!!!
